What does effective progression in the teaching of reading skills look like?

Delegates will be guided through clear sequencing of reading skills for their year group.

Support with systematic teaching and application of phonics will be available.

Guided reading to be exemplified and planning shared.

Live modelling of guided reading with pupils from Wolverham Primary

Gap task to be shared.

Outcomes:

– Opportunity to discuss a live teaching session: guided and shared reading

Session 2: Wednesday 29th January 2020 9:00 – 12:00

What progress have the pupils made? Digging deeper with national standards: Y1 phonics screening check and Y2 reading SATs.

Shared reading to be exemplified with pupils from Wolverham Primary.

Gap task to be shared.

Session 3: Wednesday 6th May 2020 1:15 – 4:15 (please note the change of time compared to previous sessions)

Moderation of reading

Share effective approaches to the moderation of reading and consider the Y2 teacher assessment framework.

Ensure clarity around reading assessment using evidence from pupils in own classes. This will be modelled using pupils work from Wolverham Primary School
