Primary science subject leaders update: keeping up-to-date with science curriculum developments

A Course for science subject leaders and/or senior managers.

During the day we will identify what is required of children for them to be judged as having reached National Standard by the end of KS1 and KS2 in science. We will share practical ideas and activities on how to ensure this approach is adopted when teaching science lessons. We will explore how this approach differs slightly for the “knowledge content” and “working scientifically” area of the curriculum. We will offer advice on how to revisit and reinforce key concepts and ideas with those children finding the work challenging whilst ensuring those children who have mastered it to continue to increase their ability to think and work scientifically.

Outcomes

Delegates will leave with electronic resources that can easily be adapted to work in their schools. Understand what is meant by mastery in Science and how this relates to National Standard.
