Practical Primary History with Chris Trevor

Course overview

What does quality teaching of History look like?

Explore how to ensure coverage of the National Curriculum KS1 and KS2 requirements through practical creative methods which will engage children and which can be adapted for different year groups or themes, whilst ensuring progression and challenge for all learners, in line with the current focus for a broad and balanced curriculum, which develops knowledge, skills and vocabulary.

We will explore what rigorous focused historical enquiry looks like and how this can develop the knowledge and skills of KS1 and KS2 historians, through practical ways to developing questioning and interpretation.

Practical suggestions for developing knowledge, concepts, vocabulary and skills by visiting local places of historical significance, the handling and interpretation of artefacts and documentary sources of historical information.
N.B.: we will make a short outdoor visit to a local site of historical interest.

Delegates can request which N.C. periods they would like practical ideas for.

Please note that lunch isn’t provided so delegates are kindly requested to come prepared
