Maths – Effective transition from EYFS to Year 1

A Course for EYFS AND YEAR 1  teachers who should attend together.

Teachers will look at a range of strategies to develop mental fluency for KS1 children. Delegates will be given the opportunity to work together to begin to analyse end of year assessments and to gain a clear understanding of what the children have achieved during their time in Foundation Stage. Year 1 teachers will be given the chance to consider the EYFS practice in their school and how elements of this can be incorporated into the Year 1 classroom, whilst moving towards a more formal approach to learning.
Delegates will look at the progression in early number and have the opportunity to tackle a range of practical activities that can be used in the classroom and in the outdoor environment. There will be the opportunity to look at ideas for effective transition followed by time to plan engaging activities that can be started in the last weeks of EYFS and developed further during the first weeks of Year 1
