English – Year 2 Teachers Mastery – afternoon session

This is a half day (1pm-5pm) session with no lunch provided

Please note that a follow up course is running on Tuesday 27th February 2018. 

Course Outline

Mastering key skills and English subject knowledge will be explored through a range of reading and writing opportunities. At the first session, planning through an engaging text will be looked at over a series of literacy lessons. Teachers will then have the opportunity to deliver this unit of work for English that incorporates all the elements covered. Teachers will receive a copy of the focus text. At the second twilight session, teachers will share the work completed by their children and then focus on reading skills for Y2. A unit of work will be shared for reading.

Course Outcomes

A good understanding of mastery in English. Clarity of English expectations in both reading and writing for Y2 children. Clarity with the process of embedding all skils through and engaging text. A clear understanding of the expectations for reading at the end of KS1 and the implications for teaching reading in Y2
