English Year 1 Teachers Mastery  – afternoon session

This is a half day (1pm-5pm) session with no lunch provided

Course Outline

Mastering key skills and English subject knowledge will be explored through a range of reading and writing opportunities. At the first session, planning through an engaging text will be looked at over a series of literacy lessons. Teachers will then have the opportunity to deliver this unit of work for English that incorporates all the elements covered. At the second twilight session, teachers will share the work completed by their children and then focus on reading skills for Y1. A unit of work will be shared for reading.

Course Outcomes

A good understanding of mastery in English. Clarity of English expectations in both reading and writing for Y1 children. Clarity with the process of embedding all skils through and engaging text. A clear understanding of the expectations for reading at the end of KS1 and the implications for teaching reading in Y1
