Knowing what they Know: Evidencing Attainment and Recording Progress in Primary Science

A One Day Course for science teachers, TAs and leaders

The practical nature of science, the requirement for ongoing assessment and a misunderstanding of what is meant by evidence mean teachers often worry about making inaccurate judgements and failing to track progress accurately.

This full day course examines how to ensure assessment judgements are accurate, what evidence to use in making these judgements and how to record progress.

During the day we will identify best practice, dispel common myths and examine the uses of a host of ideas, activities and materials to help make judgements and moderate these.

Delegates will leave with all the resources in electronic format so that they can easily adapted to suit their school.

Outcomes

Delegates will:

Know when and how to make accurate assessments of children’s attainment in science and track their progress.

Understand what is meant by evidence of attainment and how to moderate judgements

Leave with practical support activities, ideas and materials matched to the current national curriculum for primary science.
